Who Do You Say That I Am?

An examination of Christology as found in the four Gospels, the Epistles, the writings and sermons of the early church leaders and texts of the hymnal. We will look at the passion and crucifixion stories and what each writer says about its significance and meaning. We will examine how early church leaders interpreted the death and resurrection of Christ. And we will also study some of our beloved hymns for their theological content. The resources used will include power point presentations of the texts and research from internet resources.

There will be no classes on October 12 in observance of Columbus Day.

With the Rev. Sandra Etemad
When: Thursdays, 9:30 to 10:45, starting October 1
Place: Dining Room
Survey of the Bible – starting with the Old Testament

What's the main idea (or ideas) in each book of the Bible?
What are some of the best-loved, most important, or controversial passages or stories?
Who are the main characters?
When and why was each book written, and by whom?

We'll open each book of the Bible and try to answer these questions, and any others that come up, reading some selected passages, and encouraging discussion, questions, practical applications and suggestions for further reading.

Monday Study Group 9:30 a.m.
In an atmosphere of good fellowship, get a deeper faith and broader knowledge of scripture through the study topics selected by a consensus group. Leadership is shared, and the texts, while challenging, are chosen with some structure to the format without being too academic. Areas in the past have touched on Psalms, Prophets, Hebrew Scriptures and the four gospel writers as well as contemporary writings with theological themes. For more information, call Nancy Harvey 410-377-5984 or June Finney 410-583-5737.
